Why this exists
Uruguay's tax regime for new residents changed on 1 January 2026, and a large part of what is published in English about it — including by relocation firms that should know better — still describes the old rules. People make expensive plans on that basis. The starting point of this project was writing down what actually changed, with the law and the tax authority's own guidance linked so anyone can check.
How we are paid, and how we are not
This is the part worth reading. Our only income is the USD 49 report. We take no commission from lawyers, notaries, accountants, banks, estate agents or schools, and we do not sell your details to anyone who does. Nobody pays us to tell you that Uruguay is a good idea — which is why the report is free to tell you that it is a bad one for you.
The provider list
Being based here means we know accountants, notaries and immigration lawyers who actually work with foreign clients and who know the 2026 rules rather than the old ones. If you want to go further after the report, ask and we send you that list at no extra cost — and, per the paragraph above, we take nothing from anyone on it. It is a list, not a recommendation: you contact them directly, we are not part of what you agree, we are not responsible for their work, and you should judge them as you would any professional you hire.
How the report is made
A short interview establishes your situation: nationality, where your income comes from, how much time you could realistically spend in Uruguay, who is coming with you, and what would stop you. The analysis is then built around that specific combination and grounded on official Uruguayan sources, and every report is read before it goes out. The whole point is that two people with different answers get genuinely different reports.
What we are not
Not a relocation agency, not lawyers, not accountants. We do not file anything, represent anyone, or arrange services. The report is orientation you take to a qualified professional in Uruguay before you act on it.
Who runs it
An independent operator based in Uruguay, not a company with a sales team. That means you get a direct answer when you write, and it also means this is a small operation rather than an institution. If that matters to you, the refund promise is there so you do not have to take anything on faith.
